Criticism regarding Katrina Halili and Hayden Kho Scandal | aka Hayden Gate

May 23, 2009

It has been quite a while since I wrote something in my blog for the mere reason I was busy playing my favorite games in Playstation 3. And because of my addiction, I fail to watch tv news or should I say I intentionally fail watching current affairs. Why should I bother? I know they just mostly feature negative events happening in our country.

Though I am not completely updated, this doesn’t mean that I am not aware of big issues such as this Katrina Halili and Hayden Kho Scandal. Hello, there are other means such as Internet and blogging. Hearing and reading this scandalous issue, I began to watch news again.

Though what intrigues me in this issue, unlike other people who are after watching the said video, is not that Katrina Halili had an intimate bed scene with Hayden Kho. I just wonder why suddenly the Senate and other human rights group such as Gabriela became more vocal. On the other hand, can it be the fault of media just featuring this hearing to increase their TV rankings?

Are they after for publicity again since this intrigues the masses?  Isn’t that before the said scandal was featured, there are more scandals placed in the net ranging from local scandals (such as the ever popular Lasalle Scandal) and celebrity Scandals (Jennilyn Mercado, Angel Locsin, Heart Evangelista, Ethel Booba scandal). Yes, it is still clear in my mind politicians and human rights group raised their voices before. Still, is the aggravating problem solved? Clearly, the answer is no.

I am not saying that what they are fighting for is wrong. My point here is that this is not a simple problem that can be solved just by saying that you fight for human rights nor just making  a Bill to penalize whoever is spreading these kinds of videos. This problem transformed into a cycle.

Recently, I’ve just watched a movie called Notorious (a story of gangster rapper known as Notorious B.I.G. who is popular during the mid 90’s). And part of his line struck me. “In order to change the world, we must first change ourselves”

Yes, I believe more than saying, more than penalizing, also more than education, a change in values is a must. And this change will only occur if REALIZATION within ourselves happens.

Charlie’s Burger | One the best burgers in town

April 1, 2009

Since my friend and I loves travelling and trying different kinds of stuff particularly food, we got to know this place called Charlie’s Burger in Kapitolyo, Pasig. Charlie’s Burger, as my friend told me, was featured in media because of its tasty and quality products which include Black Angus Burger and Fish & Chips. It is also well known for having a car wash service beside the burger haven, to make customers feel comfortable.

At first, the outside of the venue was a bit uninviting. Yet again, with the saying “Don’t judge a book with its cover”, I was astonished to find it has a relaxing ambience and atmosphere. With pillars serving as dividers, it promotes a certain level of privacy for its customers.

Since it was our first time visiting that place, we took pictures of the things we ordered.

Fish and Fries

Have you tried Fish and Co? Well, Charlie’s Burger’s Fish and Fries is way better than Fish & Co. For the cost of 180 pesos, you get one big piece of fish fillet. It was crunchy and juicy but not oily. The tartar sauce mixed with a bit of lemon is an excellent dip for this mouth-watering dish. For fish lovers, this is a must try.

Black Angus Burger with Fries

For Burger lovers, this is the burger you’ve been waiting for. This can absolutely satisfy for your cravings for burgers. The Black Angus cost around 175 pesos with fries. Topped with Cheddar Cheese, the meat of the burger is extremely delicious without the taste of extenders. Compared to other burgers, this is one is not oily as well. The taste is comparable with Brother’s Burger but at a lower price. And for a big guy like me, I was so full after eating this sinful meal.

With the price, presentation, quality, and venue I give them a rating of 4.5 out of 5. I definitely recommend this place for hang outs or for food trips. Of course, I am a loyalista of Charlie’s burger

KFC Cheesy BBQ Melt: Another Fail Product

March 1, 2009

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_lOIJzvHx1X8/SRv6Re_kXLI/AAAAAAAAD6o/bjMLGqFiJko/s400/chix.jpg

Kudos to the Marketing of KFC newest product “The Cheesy BBQ Melt”. Being a burger addict and entrepreneur, you actually made a fool out of me claiming in your commercial that you would rather eat this bunch of trash to a delectable burger.

By using the power of media and marketing skills of course, you actually try to convince people to try your latest products. And yes you are good at it. But, I think you must make sure that what you offer is complementary to your other specialties.  No offense, but this product of yours is a sure FAIL.

Else, I suggest stop product expansion. You are just ruining your brand.

Ateneo Business Networking

January 21, 2009

It’s just now that I realized that why Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University, UA&P, and UST have high tuition fees. Most people say that it’s because of the quality of education, facilities, and of course the reputation of the school.

After working for almost 2 years, I realize that there’s only a slight difference when it comes to its respective expertise. The main difference that I realized is the quality of people that you meet. The students are more competitive because of the universities’ academic curriculum. This trigger students to study harder, work harder, in other words try to reach your limits. It’s a good example where the concept “survival of the fittest” is applied.

Another thing is that you have lots of opportunities building your network of friends and thus having lots of perks. As an entrepreneur, this is a major factor to help me grow my business. Recently, I received an email with regards to expanding your business network.

Batangas Beach Paradise

January 20, 2009

I’ve been always a person looking for adventure. I can give up going to bars and parties for the sake of travelling in nature-friendly environments. This is the time when I chillax and I become one with nature.

http://www.thephilippinerealestate.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/nasugbu.jpg

My best friend has a beautiful resort in Nasugbu, Batangas. I went there once with our Ateneo HS friends. Damn, it was really a beauty. Seeing a hot sexy girl dance is nothing compared to the view of their place. Just by inhaling that cool fresh air and glancing at the serene environment are enough to make you high.

Everyone is preparing up on how they can show their love to their “ohhh so special someone”. With eagerness to bring flowers and chocolates, surely you will not miss the chance of getting your only love saying those three infamous words, “I love you”.

Okay, after a decade of no updates with my blog, I am now going write a summary of what I experienced during the holidays. December 28, 2008

It’s been a while since I posted on my blog. I am a blogger. Blogging is my life. So, for a while, I took out a parcel of my life to enjoy Christmas Holidays. And by enjoying Christmas, it just simply means eating the heck anything you like without worrying for calories intake.

So I am starting to imagine things. If I eat Crispy Pata, Cheesecake, Ham with spanish paprika and basil, Lasagna, Ice cream cake, and Lechon, this is how I am going to look.

Marian Rivera, buntis na? The Buzz from "The Buzz"

December 16, 2008

I don’t know what’s the fuzz all about Marian Rivera getting pregnant. But we Filipinos are considered leeches when it comes to gossips involving showbiz celebrities or any famous personality.

http://www.pep.ph/images/news/fd4551b73.jpg

Anyway, I am going to be a “leech” for now. Hehehe. I’ve done research on THE BUZZ, and when Boy Abunda asked Karylle (formerly Dingdong Dantes‘ girlfriend) with regards to Marian Rivera being pregnant, she just responded with a SWEET, SILENT SMILE.

http://ph.88db.com/ph/html/lifestyle/images/showbiz/Dingdong-Karylle-2gether.jpg

The fact that she did not say anything about it, it just means “please can we have at least some privacy here.” It’s obvious she does not want to involve Marian Rivera and her issue with Dingdong Dantes and their break-up.

It seems what the REAL issue here is not about Marian Rivera being pregnant, not about the break-up, but DINGDONG DANTES being so HOT that two hot women are in an issue because of him. Who else can we blame? Dingdong Dantes was recently crowned as TOP 3 HOTTEST MALES in the WORLD.

Dingdong Dantes 6 by DingdongDantes.net.

I’ve done my research and saw lots of his pictures in this site www.DingDongDantes.net . Let me just straighten things up, I am NOT GAY nor do I want to be one. But, it really amuses me on why these kinds of issue were brought up because of DINGDONG DANTES SEXY AND STEAMINGLY HOT APPEAL.

Tanging Ina N’yong Lahat Critic

December 15, 2008

http://www.mukamo.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/ai-ai-delas-alas.jpg

All right, it’s Christmas, the season to be jolly where you see the smile of people around you. Now is the best time to release the movie that will send us all rolling on the floor laughing. Tanging Ina was one of the biggest comedy hits at present starring Ai AI delas Alas.

I watched the first movie in Skycable and yes I agree it sure made my stomach ache from laughing. However, I think that the sequel  “Tanging Ina N’yong Lahat” jeopardizes the Filipino values by transforming important values into just mere humors.

“Tanging Ina” is okay for me since it just literally means “Special Mom”, or with proper parental/ mature guidance it can be determined that this is the real meaning. Well, how about this one, “Tanging Ina N’yong Lahat” sounds familiar. If you did not understand, this one’s for you. TANG INA MO! TANG INA N’YONG LAHAT!

Yes, it is. It is an expression of Filipinos in when they are angry, want to make someone angry, harassed, want to harass someone. It’s not really pleasant to hear this language since it just degrades the dignity and humanity of women.

Another example is the one I heard in a commercial promoting this movie. Ai Ai delas Alas said that “Practice makes perfect. But, no one is perfect. So, why practice?” It is quite logical I agree, no one really is perfect except God. But through this, we tend to forget that humans have the ability to TRANSCEND. It hinders Filipino generation to ASPIRE, to REACH PERFECTION, to DREAM HIGH, to HAVE A GOAL and REACH FOR IT.

Humor is okay. Too much humor is BAD. Thinking about what can happen next, probably there will be a movie named “TANGENG INA” which literally means “Stupid Mom”. Damn, which makes me think, how can our country have hope if this is the kind of mentality we produce?

Best Cheesecakes Philippines

December 11, 2008

I am a cheesecake lover. Actually, I am willing to die for a cheesecake. Just joking. But really, it is just simply delicious and tempting to try different kinds of cheesecake. Consider this list of cheesecakes I tried as my Christmas wish list.

MY LIST OF BEST CHEESECAKES

1. Evert’s Desserts

Just browse through her multiply site www.evertsdesserts.multiply.com and you will see assorted desserts. But, what really stands out among them is her Strawberry Cheesecake. This is a no bake cheesecake so you are assured that you will taste cheese at its finest and its really cheese-rich. Moreover, one slice this scrumptious dessert already makes you full. Believe me, I am a heavy eater. I already participated in different eating contests.

One whole cheesecake cost around 600 pesos. For its price, taste, and appearance, it is number one in my cheesecake or should my christmas wish list.

2. Burgoo Raspberry Cheesecake

When my family was still here in the Philippines, every weekend we usually go out food tripping. You see, food tripping is our way of bonding. And the first restaurant that pops up to my mind is Burgoo. Not only because my mom and the owner are really good friends, but because their food really taste good.

And I highly recommend their Raspberry Cheesecake. Just look at how it’s presented and the thickness of this beauty. Yummy. Once tasted, your craving for other cheesecakes will boost. Definitely, you’ll search for more. Actually, this is the first cheesecake I ever tasted and after that experience, I became an avid fan of cheesecake.

3. Chocolate Kiss Blueberry Cheesecake at Bahay Alumni UP

During my food business ventures, when we were looking for a good spot to establish our Picky Eaters Burger business, my friend and I went to UP. Then, we came across Bahay Alumni and we heard that the food they offer are great. Of course, we want to try out what they offer and I found out that they have cheesecakes such as Blueberry Cheesecake.

I ordered this heavenly stuff and tried it for the love of cheesecake. And boy, I was sure thankful that I learned that place. The texture, the sweetness, the cheesy feeling, they just complement well with each other. If you really like quality for a low price, this is the place to go.

4. Banapple Two-Nut Cheesecake

Since I studied my whole life in Ateneo, I should be familiar with great places that offer good food. Along C-5, you can find Banapple Restaurant famous for their Cheesecake filled with bananas. However, what I really like is their Banapple Two-Nut Cheesecake. For nut lovers, this is a sinful dessert. You’ll just tend to forget how much your calorie intake is when you’re eating this cheesecake. Forget about calories, celebrate and rejoice. This is one of a kind.

5. Sugar House Blueberry Cheesecake

Okay, to tell you the truth this is one of my date places in Makati. Sugar House. From the name itself, they basically not only offer sweet desserts, but the atmosphere and the ambience of that place is really SWEET. Anyway, I always order their Blueberry Cheesecake.

The sweetness of the cream cheese is just right. More than that, what I really adore is their delicious crust.

These are my favorite Cheesecakes FOR NOW.

Siomai House Philippines: Best Local Siomai Stall

December 10, 2008

http://fc72.deviantart.com/fs19/f/2007/243/c/5/Siomai_House_Corporate_Design_by_emtotskee.jpg

It was not a bad idea after all resigning from my work at Makati, going to Singapore, and currently working at Ortigas. Not just because of salary and convenience since Ortigas is more accessible to me since I was able to escape the ever-making-me-hot-headed heavy traffic going to Makati in the early mornings, but because I was exposed to the industry of food business as well.

Being a food fanatic, it is a need for me to try different foods and critic based on taste and the value for money. I just heard SIomai House in Ortigas in Strata 2000 Building and boy it was really delicious. For just 25 pesos, I can get 4 pieces of siomai with chili on it.

Well, besides from its really low price, they offer QUALITY LARGE pieced of Siomai that can make you full once you added a cup of rice in it. Steamed to perfection, once you tried it, you’ll come back for more. I did. I was eating this meal 2 weeks straight before I ventured other food stalls.

Compared to other siomai in the market, its texture which is very important for siomai, is really high class even though their target market is for C+ to B class level. I really recommend this one especially for barkada food trips or barkada inuman for pulutan.

Today, I am still thinking about going to buy some SIOMAI to make my day complete.

Freebies: Look first before trying or should I say, Think First

December 9, 2008

I was on my way back to the office with my officemates. We came across a promo girl offfering us biscuits with red thingies on it. At first, I thought it was chili or something that is really spicy. The promo girl said, “Hey cute guys, wanna try some of these? These are absolutely delicious, and the good thing is that these are free.”

Her angelic face, her lustful eyes matched with her kinky outfit, I would say who’s the dumb guy who is going to refuse such a delightful site and irresistible offer. At first bite, my reaction was what the crap is this? Then, I looked at their booth. ARGENTINA CORNED BEEF. Okay, I was mistaken with the idea that it is some kind of red spicy thing placed on top of that biscuit. I really did not expect it was corned beef. No offense to the Argentina corned beef, but the way it is done, it just does not complement the taste of the biscuit.

The lesson I learned was to think, be aware of that product first before trying it. I was lured by their marketing strategy, convinced by a cute promo girl to taste that “thing” which I cannot consider nor define as “food” in my dictionary. I fell into a trap of persuasion.

This is the power of marketing campaigns. Be attracted without even thinking about it, and you are really not aware that you’re not thinking about it. Just like any kind of marketing such as Web Marketing, don’t be fooled with promises such as easy-to-get-rich campaigns. I know they sound real, I mean they are real but the way described the process of making money sounds like you don’t need to exert effort. Just keep on gaining instantly.

Remember, think first.

Ateneo Aegis 07 Updates: A message from an Anonymous Ateneo Aegis Member

December 7, 2008

This is a message I got from a friend who knows someone who has a high position in the Ateneo Aegis. Myfriend also posted a similar rant wanting to have updates with regards to our precious Ateneo Yearbook.

The original plan, from the last time I met with the board back in May, was that the yearbook was supposed to be released by July or August at the latest. Many departments have been cleared of their duties. One of which is Public Relations and Communications. Also, if I remember correctly, the write-ups are finished but Jan Bunag, the EIC, has not responded to the updates and emails we sent before to him. Last time I heard was that his computer crashed or something. I gave the board this notice last year that I will not be able to help out anymore, even though my requirements are already completed. Anyway, we did hear about your blog though I am not sure what is being done about it. Anyway, if I were you, you wouldn’t want to quote me on any of these because these are all “the last things I heard about whatever’s going on” and there might be more recent updates. And I would appreciate it if my name or this response DOES NOT get posted in your blog or anywhere else and wouldn’t be quoted. I am only answering your query as a friend, not as part of the Aegis Organization.

- Anonymous Ateneo Aegis Member

To avoid any conflict, my friend refused to give the name of the person who gave this  statement. But, I am truly grateful at least I am starting to know things what really is happening. Anyway, my real goal is to have updates not to ruin a person’s image.

I know, I had alerted many of the Ateneo Aegis Members since my blog is one of the tops in search engines when searched for the keyword “Ateneo Aegis 07″. But believe me, I am just going to stop all of this after I get a picture of what is really happening with our yearbook.

Based on what I researched, the comments I received, this statement, one name appears - JAN BUNAG, the EIC of ATENEO AEGIS 2007. This past few weekends I have been busy spending time with a special someone so I have not addressed this problem to the university.

Manny Pacquiao : Who’s next?

After watching the fight between Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao  and  Oscar “The Golden Boy” Dela Hoya, I was wondering who’s next in line to compete with Manny. Showing his speed, toughness, and aggression, it was a one sided match after Manny Pacquiao through a flurry of combos to his opponent.

Before the fight, I remember Noli de Castro mentioning in his interview Manny Pacquiao will surely win. Why? Look at the biggest countries, most of them were greatly affected by the economic crisis. Asian Market however, particularly the Philippines has little impact. This complements the line “the bigger they are, the harder they fall.”

Pacquiao displayed his greatness to his idol dela Hoya. And the next question that lingered in my mind? With Pacquiao considered as one of the best pound for pound fighters, I remember the last fight of dela Hoya against Floyd Mayweather who remained unbeaten and just recently retired. Is he going to be the next opponent so the truth on who’s the best pound for pound fighter will be unfolded? Or is it with the like of Hatton?

Whoever Manny Pacquiao’s opponent is, I believe that Manny will still have a higher chance of winning his fight, not because of his skill, nor his speed and power, but his determination, his toughness to face larger opponents combined with his humility.

Philippine Investment: Saving Money or Using your Money to feed Your Wants?

December 5, 2008

Most, if not all people, say that they want to save up money for their future needs but ends up spending them for their wants. I tried understanding this phenomena especially for Filipinos by incorporating my experiences and observation from people.

Filipinos want to enjoy the money they earn. It is natural for us that this is our stress reliever. We really work because we want to buy or have access on something. Probably, you work for a new car, new phone, new laptop, or you work because somebody relies on you. For whatever reason it is, you work because you WANT to attain something that you think will make you happy. And making you HAPPY correlates to something you really NEED.

But for a certain point in time, you will get used to that thing making you feel bored and unhappy. Thus, initiating that you NEED something NEW to make you HAPPY.

This kind of psychological thinking clouds the minds of people in differentiating what really is a NEED and a WANT. I am not saying that this is the only factor. But, I firmly believe that this is one of the strongest factors why most Filipinos have no savings. Even I admit that I was a victim.  With this kind of notion, I don’t think that Filipinos fall to this trap because we are not educated nor exposed to this kind of scenario. I think this is more on your personal values which define you.

So what is my say about saving money or using money to feed your wants? I’d say it really depends on your priority. You can spend money without worrying in the future since you believe in your income stability. You can save and earn money by investing it in time deposits, stocks, bonds, mutual funds, or even set-up a business of your own. You can even have both by budgeting and allocating some portions of your money.

I hate reading articles saying that these are the points or reasons why you should save money. Or sometimes they blame media why Filipinos spend too much and save nothing.

Whatever you do it really depends on you. The important thing is that you are HAPPY, SATISFIED, CONTENTED. That I believe is your NEED and WANT.

INFJ : The Relevance of Personality Test

December 4, 2008

Just yesterday, I was really troubled on who I am, why, and how should I exist? I don’t know why it suddenly popped out of my head. Seeking for answers, I sent a YM message to a friend just to release some of stress I am feeling since she is really very perceptive and understand people’s emotions in an instant. She addressed some questions such as what makes you “you”? What are your comfort zones? What makes you happy?

Those questions made me recall my life experiences. It was like I was in a vacuum where I was sucked in a world of the past where past events, people, scenarios became so real for me. And finally I found my answer. My vision, my goal, my happiness is having a complete family. I think that dream is simple, but in my case it is really complicated.

She told me that by knowing and understanding myself better, that will relieve the weight of the burden I am feeling inside. Then she said that she was an ISFJ. Hearing that acronym for the first time in my life. I honestly told her what is that? What does it mean? It is her personality ISFJ: Introvert Sensing Feeling Judgment. Then she asked me? What’s yours?

Okay. I am quite bias about this kind of stuff because I believe that these kind of topics are pretty girlish for me. So, I frankly told her I don’t know since those things did not interest nor concern me. By expalining to me that taking the personality on the net, you will understand why you act in such a way where you can’t even explain why you acted that way.

It was lunch time, I decided to take on the test. I took it seriously as if I am trying to recall instances so that my answers have basis. The result is I am an INFJ: Introvert Intuition Feeling Judging.

I am a kind of person who treasures personal values, long time relationships, peace loving, enjoys being alone at certain points, loves contemplating about things, wants to be included to have a change, who finds happiness in the simplest things such as making someone smile, very secretive unless I trust you so much, loves to hang out in small groups of people, the rarest kind of all personalities around 1% of the total world population.

Reading the descriptions of INFJ in terms of career and love relationships, I saw the exact copy of “me”. This made me realize by understanding yourself, you will not feel awkward, lost in space.

Now, the burden is slowly diminishing because I have found light, even though it is still dim.

Pomegranate Phone: Mobile Phone Technology Advancement or Just A Plain Joke?

December 3, 2008

I was looking for the latest gadgets and technology to make a comment and criticize its product features. When I saw this mobile phone, I was full with awe yet also had tons of laughter. Guess what I found? A very very weird phone.

Visit pomegranatephone.com or click HERE. Beware, you need high speed connection just to view this web page.

Well, I really can’t say if advanced technology is really beneficial with this kind of product. Pomegranate phone that is.
